Nurse Practitioner from Poland
Oil on canvas 40” x 30”
Beata is a nurse from Poland who didn’t speak a word of English when she arrived here at age twenty-five in the early 1990s, and learned that her nurse’s training and degree were worthless in this country. She had to start over, learning the language from scratch and retaking every nursing course she’d passed in Poland. She did it all and has worked for more than a dozen years in doctors’ offices. Last summer, she proudly passed the advanced nurse practitioner exam and can now see patients on her own.
